This is a collaborative piece by painter, McCrary, and stained-glass artist/master woodworker, Kim Stacy. It is one of the more exciting works in the collection. McCrary created the original painting, and Stacy framed it with stained glass doors, allowing viewers to open the doors to view the painting, woodwork and stained glass all at once. It can also be viewed with the doors closed allowing a view through the stained glass. The possibilities for shadows and reflections are limitless depending on the natural and artificial light, time of day, and position of the stained-glass doors. Stacy and McCrary have collaborated on several stunning works of art. In this instance Stacy rendered the painted composition in stained glass, mirroring the color pallet and streamlining the composition to her medium. Finally, she framed the work in a way that combines style and media from two artists into a single cohesive and everchanging work of art.
